Bronze Shakyamuni
Several years ago I was doing a small statue of what I think is a standing Buddha statue.?
I do not know what that is built from from or how old he is. It is very heavy for its size, because it is solid metal, maybe bronze. The base is light enough and resembles marble, but it seems as if it were added later. No doubt appreciate if someone could give me your opinion on this statue. It is 250 mm and 70 mm high at the shoulder. The same character is represented by a vertical bar down the other side and arms bent at the elbow with the palm facing forward. The palm is a kind of motto engraved on it. The pledge is an element unique, but that covers the left shoulder. I have lots of photos of a statue and can provide if needed. The closest image I found on the Internet that describes Standing Buddha as "probably Shakyamuni. If you go to Google images and use the search parameter" Buddha standing bronze figures, will appear on the right end of the first row of images Thanks
It seems to have a statue of Buddha Amitabha. The Pure Land tradition of Mahayana Buddhism focuses on its Amitabha practice. This tradition is very popular in China, Vietnam, Korea and Japan. Shall repeat the name of Amitabha and again like a mantra, believing that this will resulted in a rebirth in the Pure Land, where there is no suffering. Other manifestations of Buddha (Shakyamuni, for example) are usually represented in a sitting position. Amitabha, by contrast, is almost always represented standing.
